Riverpalooza makes a splash as city’s newest festival

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne is known for its rivers, and a new festival is showing them off. Riverpalooza made its debut Saturday afternoon at the Wells Street Bridge.

As one might expect, festival-goers enjoyed canoeing and kayaking. The Concordia Rowing Team even offered rides on the river.

Organizers said planning the event went smoothly thanks to all the community support.

“It’s always a challenge the first time, so you never quite know how it’s going to be, but the sponsors have been incredible because this is all done by sponsorships and there is no city money used and no taxpayer money,” said Karen Richards, one of the event’s organizers.

Live music lasted until 7 p.m., and food trucks offered up their tastiest treats for people to watch the TinCaps fireworks from the bridge.
