Fundraising walk helps kidney disease patients

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) – About 100 communities across the country, including the Fort Wayne area, will help raise money for the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana.

The Northeast Indiana Walk is an annual event where teams and companies gather donations to support patients and their families.

One in three Americans are at risk for kidney disease, according to the National Kidney Foundation.

More than 75,000 walkers raise over $8 million each year for the organization.

Organizers of the Northeast Indiana Walk set a goal of $55,000. As of the end of May, $33,650 has been collected.
