Canterbury, Marion fall in semi-state girl’s tennis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The high school girl’s tennis season came to an end Saturday in northeast Indiana.  The last two teams remaining, Canterbury and Marion, fell in the semi-state round of the IHSAA tournament.

Canterbury fell to North Central, 4-1.  The Cavs lone win came in number three singles, where Ava Vanhelfteren won her match 4-6,6-4, 6-4.

Leah Barnes, who reached the state finals last spring in the state’s individual tournament, lost her change at a repeat trip with her 7-5, 6-4 loss to North Central’s Sasha Glickfield.

Marion fell with a 4-1 loss to Elkhart Memorial.
