FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Around 150 women played in the tennis tennis part of the 20th annual Vera Bradley Classic this weekend.
It’s part of the largest amateur women’s golf and tennis charity tournament in the country. Every year the Classic raises around a million dollars for breast cancer research.
The Wildwood Racquet Club hosts the tennis competition every year.
“It really brings an awareness about breast cancer and the ravages of it. One in nine women, statistically, will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and of course, Vera Bradley, being the great company they are, is very easy to get behind such passionate people,” Will Cleveland with the tennis club said.
Nearly 400 people were expected to attend an awards dinner at Wildwood Saturday night.
Monday will be all about golf with four tournaments at three different golf clubs.
