ST PAUL, Ind. (WANE) A man died after jumping 30 feet into the water in a quarry at White Rock Park in St. Paul, Indiana.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of Ryan L. Hester of Cincinnati, Ohio. Divers recovered his body around 6 pm Thursday.

The Rock Quarry has a high platform where people are supposed to jump one at a time into an area specifically sectioned off for safe jumping.

Witnesses told police Hester and a friend jumped from the platform at the same time. They also said Hester landed awkwardly on a rope. That may be a factor in his death, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

The incident is still under investigation and an autopsy scheduled for Friday. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
