Attic fire damages Dewald Street home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A long-smoldering attic fire damaged a two story home on West Dewald Street early Thursday morning.

Just after 12:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 434 West Dewald Street and found smoke coming from the roof. It took crews about 15 minutes to extinguish the flames.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

Fire officials said the home has minor fire, water, and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross was called to assist residents.
