BOWLING GREEN, Kent. – It had been two years and two days since the TinCaps had hit back-to-back home runs, and Wednesday night at Bowling Green Ballpark it was just that feat that not only tied the game, but gave Fort Wayne the lead for good in a 12-7 win. Consecutive seventh-inning longballs by Jake Bauers and Ryan Miller keyed a late rally to propel the TinCaps to a season-best fourth straight victory.

Fort Wayne (23-29), which had swept Dayton in its previous series, had a winning streak in peril after six innings. Down, 7-2, Fort Wayne viciously attacked the Bowling Green (24-28) bullpen after the departure of Jaime Schulz, who fanned eight batters in 4 2/3 innings.

Franmil Reyes started the seventh-inning rally with a two-run single to left field, and Bauers followed two batters later with a three-run homer, which was his third home run of the season. That game-tying blast sent Hot Rods reliever Stone Speer packing, and Bowling Green brought in Colton Reavis (1-1), who surrendered a home run to Miller, helping propel the TinCaps to an 8-7 lead.

The eighth inning was nearly as productive for the TinCaps, as they poured on four more runs getting run-producing swings from Bauers, Reyes, Fernando Perez, Dane Phillips. Perez also homered, hitting a solo shot in the fourth, making the night the first three-homer game of the season for the TinCaps.

The five-run deficit was also the largest overcome in a win by the TinCaps this season. Previously, the largest gap they had closed out for a victory was three runs. The last time that TinCaps players hit back-to-back home runs was May 26, 2012, when Lee Orr and Diego Goris both left the yard in an 11-2 loss against Bowling Green at Parkview Field.

Every player in the TinCaps lineup had at least one hit, with five of them having multi-hit nights and three plating at least two runs.

Thursday’s game is scheduled for a first pitch of 8:05 ET. The scheduled starters are Erik Cabrera for Fort Wayne, while Bowling Green has not yet announced a starting pitcher. The game can be heard on The Fan 1380 and TheFanFortWayne.com.
