Coroner releases names of two men killed in crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The identities of the two men who died in a car crash along Butler Road early Tuesday morning have been released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.  The driver has been identified as Elvis Ibisevic, 31, of Fort Wayne and his passenger has been identified as Akif Avdibasic, 40, also of Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne police responded to a call of a single vehicle crash on Butler Road near Butler Court just after 3:30 a.m.

Investigators determined the car was traveling east on Butler Road when Ibisevic lost control around a curve. The vehicle left the road and traveled about 100 feet before striking a tree and coming to a stop, The car then burst into flames. Firefighters extinguished the flames and found Ibisevic inside the car.

Avdibasic was ejected from the car and the coroner determined both men died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coroner’s Office said the passenger was not wearing a seat belt but they were unable to determine whether or not the driver was due to the fire. Police said speed was likely factor in the crash.

Investigators are still trying to determine any other possible contributing factors.

The crash remains under investigation.
