INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis detectives said on Tuesday they have made an arrest in the November 2013 death of an elderly woman.
Homicide detectives arrested William Rainsberger for his involvement in the death of his 88-year-old mother. A murder warrant was issued for Rainsberger on May 22. He was apprehended Tuesday morning.
Police say in the afternoon hours of Nov. 19, 2013, officers received a 911 call about a person down in the 800 block of North Shortridge Road in Indianapolis. Police arrived and found the victim, Ruth Rainsberger, unresponsive due to a head wound.
According to police, William Rainsberger had called 911 and said he found his mother lying on the floor near the entrance of her apartment. She was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead the next morning.
Detectives say William Rainsberger has been charged with murder by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. He was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center.
