Friday May 23 – Saturday May 24

Watchfire, Allen County Council of Veterans – 9 p.m.,  2122 O’Day Road

The Allen County Council of Veterans will hold its annual Watchfire event from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 at the Veterans Memorial Shrine, located at 2122 O’Day Road, Fort Wayne.

Sunday, May 25

Service of Reconciliation – 8 a.m. to 9.m. at the Foellinger Outdoor Theatre in Franke Park
for Military Veterans, Law Enforcement Officers, and everyone who depends on them for protection

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on St. Mary’s Avenue will hold a Service of Reconciliation for military veterans, law enforcement officers and everyone who depends on them for protection. This first ever, special service will begin the 35th summer of Worship in the Park.

Salute to the Services – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old Fort, 1201 Spy Run Ave.

The Old Fort is offering a new opportunity this year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, to meet with veterans, hear their stories, and honor their service. This event is sponsored by AJ Logistics, Summit Mechanical, Ben Davis Chevy/Ben Davis Ford, LCPA Group LTD and Civil Air Patrol.

Monday, May 26

Ceremony in Willshore, Ohio – 9 a.m. at Willshire Home Furnishings, 318 State Street

The Memorial Day ceremony will start at 9 a.m. There will be a small parade of Color guard, a high school band, and people that live in the area, walking to the cemetery.

Wall of Honor – 11 a.m. near the Peace Monument, 150 Courthouse Square  

The four-sided wall will feature bricks inscribed to honor military veterans of the county – including individuals who served in the Spanish-American War, Civil War and World War I, as well as  a Congressional Medal of Honor winner. The wall will be formally dedicated during Memorial Day services.

Allen County Memorial Day Parade – 11 a.m. 

The Parade will start at 11 a.m. at the corner of Parnell Avenue and State Boulevard. It will end at the Coliseum where there will be a Memorial Day ceremony just outside of the Coliseum’s Memorial Hall.
