FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times at Eden Green Apartments early Thursday morning.

Shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched to the complex after a reported disturbance involving a man with a gun.

According to city police spokesperson Officer Michael Joyner, as officers were arriving at the scene they received information that a man had been shot.

The victim was found in a hallway inside building 7B. Sources close to the investigation told NewsChannel 15 the man appeared to have been shot at least twice in the chest.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers detained one man for questioning who was seen running from the area shortly after officers arrived. The man’s vehicle was about a block away from the shooting near building 3 and crime scene technicians were processing the vehicle for any possible evidence, according to Joyner.

A source told NewsChannel 15’s Rod Hissong the man was questioned later Thursday morning but is not currently being charged. However, police do consider him a person of interest.

Joyner said no additional suspect information was available and a possible motive for the shooting is unknown.

The incident is under investigation.
