Homestead, Carroll Wins Boys Track Sectionals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead won a boys sectional track title at Wayne high school on Thursday while NHC rival Carroll earned a sectional championship across town at North Side.
Homestead tallied 137 points to best second-place Wayne (108 points), third-place Huntington North (79.5), and fourth-place New Haven (69) among the 11 teams competing.
The Spartans were led by first place finishes from Brayden Law (3,200 meters), John Lark (200 meters), Tyler Koteskey (1,600 meters), Jordan Davis (300 meter hurdles), Skyler Mikesell (800 meters), and the 4×400 relay.
Wayne had a number of first place finishes: Javin Easterly (100 meters), Jari Dada (shot put), Dequavis Williams (110 hurdles), the 4×100 relay squad, Dontell Parker (long jump), and Tyrese Easton (high jump).
At North Side it was Carroll tallying 122 points to best second-place Bishop Dwenger’s 112. Northrop came in third with 77 points, while Concordia and South Side rounded out the top five.
Carroll’s 4×800 relay team, Cameron Clements (1,600 meters), and the 4×100 relay team each took home first place finishes for the Chargers.
South Side’s Shaton Harris won both the 100 and 200 meters. Concordia’s Nathan Sutaphong won the 800 meters while Zach Panning won the 3,200. Dwenger also had multiple winners as Eric Cagnet won both the shot put and the discus while Jared Schipper won the pole vault.
