Byrd Leaving Michigan State, Will Play At Master’s College

Russell Byrd

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Blackhawk Christian high school graduate Russell Byrd is taking his talents to the west coast, leaving Michigan State for an NAIA program outside of Los Angeles.
Byrd, who has one year of college eligibility remaining, will play his final season at Master’s College. Master’s is a Christian liberal arts school. Both of his parents are Master’s graduates.
A top 100 recruit coming out of Blackhawk, Byrd’s career has been hampered by injury. The spring following his senior season at Blackhawk Byrd broke his foot while working out on the court. He missed the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star series and would eventually need three surgeries over the next year to help correct the problem.
Byrd wound up scoring 110 points over three seasons at MSU.
