Angola rejects offer in fight over strip club

ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE)  – The Angola Common Council has turned down a deal to settle a federal lawsuit with the owners of Fort Wayne’s Showgirl Three.

According to KPC Media, Alva and Sandra Butler offered to sell the controversial property and liquor license to the city for 1.5 million dollars. They presented this offer to the Common Council at an executive discussion on Monday night.

The Butlers bought the property at 310 W. Wendell Jacob Ave and liquor license in August 2012 for about $485,000.

The Butlers sued Angola in March 2013, saying officials violated their civil rights by prevented them from opening a strip club at the former Slider’s Bar and Grill.

Mayor Dick Hickman told the KPC that he was told by legal counsel that the suit probably won’t be resolved until late 2014 or early 2015. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
