Three killed in Indianapolis shootings

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Metro Police say two people were found dead and two others shot, including a 10-year-old girl in a northwest side neighborhood late Monday.

Around 10 p.m. police were called to the Lakeside Manor Subdivision near West 52nd Street and North High School Road on a report of shots fired.

When police arrived they say they found two men shot and killed outside the front door of a home. A third man was found shot behind the residence. Medics took him to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Police described the incident as some kind of shootout with bullets hitting and damaging several houses.

Officers say the 10-year-old girl was at a different house than the rest of the shooting victims. She was apparently hit in the leg by a stray bullet from the exchange of gunfire. She was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in stable condition.

Police say they have one person in custody for questioning. That man was found in the 5200 block of Moller Road. Investigators say they believe he fled the house during or after the shooting.
