Inside The Zone – Season Recap/Offseason Preview

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Coming off the franchise’s first trip to the ECHL playoffs, the Komets have plenty to build on this offseason according to The News-Sentinel Komets beat writer Blake Sebring.
Sebring joined WANE sports director Glenn Marini Monday to wrap up the season in the final 2013-14 edition of “Inside The Zone.”
The Komets will be without two-time team MVP Brandon Marino. The ECHL’s leading scorer this past season, Marino has stated he will play the upcoming season in Hungary. Players like Dean Ouellet, Matt Carter, and Scott Fleming are among a number of players who have indicated they will look into playing in Europe as well.
Many other Komets face the issue of retirement, including Kaleigh Schrock and Simon Danis-Pepin.
One major decision facing the Komets is that of an NHL affiliation. The Komets played this past season without one after being affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks during their first season in the ECHL.
