FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Sources tell NewsChannel 15 that Fort Wayne Fire Chief Amy Biggs will step down soon and that the resignation was prompted by “tensions” between Biggs and City Controller Pat Roller.

Biggs was sworn in as the city’s first female fire chief on July 2, 2012.

She reportedly met with Public Safety Director Rusty York and Mayor Tom Henry last Friday, but no details about that meeting have been released.

In an interview in July of 2013, she spoke about her first year on the job and what she hoped to accomplish in the future.

NewsChannel 15 has learned that Biggs will remain a captain with the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
