Dozens compete in autocross

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Dozens of drivers spent Sunday seeing what their car was capable of.

Fort Wayne Region’s Sports Car Club of America hosted an autocross event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

About 75 drivers participated in a non-speed driving competition on the parking lot outside. Competitors navigated one at a time through traffic cones in a timed race.

Organizers said their passion is control.

“This gives people a chance to really find out what their can can do and teaches you driver’s skills,” said Steve Mieritz, Regional Executive of Fort Wayne Region’s Sports Car Club of America.

To keep speeds down, the course was made up of turns.

These events are open to anyone licensed to drive.

The next local event will be during the Three Rivers Festival. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
