Business celebrates grand opening after fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A business celebrated its grand opening Saturday after a fire delayed the festivities.

Art Van Furniture, on Coliseum Blvd, opened in late January. However, the ribbon cutting was delayed after a fire broke out in the showroom on February 14. The renovations are now completed.

The Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and people in the community attended the grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting Saturday in front of the store.

“This ceremonial ribbon cutting is our opportunity to publicly thank the community for the warm welcome we have received,” said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. “We are thoroughly enjoying working hand in hand with the families of Fort Wayne to enhance and beautify their homes.”

Art Van Furniture is also hosting a free family fun day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. featuring face painting, clowns, giveaways and entertainment.
