BASE: Snider Honors Former Coach Andy Owen


FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Snider honored former baseball coach Andy Owen by retiring his number Saturday afternoon at Hawley Field. Owen was an assistant coach with the program from 1987-1992 before leading the program as head coach from 1993-2011.

Under Owen’s guise, Snider posted a 378-156 record, won 8 SAC titles, 5 sectional championships and two state championships. He was named the IHSBCA 4A Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2009.

In a doubleheader played that day, Snider split two games with Canterbury, dropping game one 7-2, before rebounding to win game two 4-2. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
