Police chase ends with crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)   A police chase in Fort Wayne ended with a crash near the intersection of Ardmore and Nuttman Avenues.

A NewsChannel 15 crew on the scene said it appeared that police used a TASER on a suspect who was then taken away in an ambulance.

Officer Michael Joyner, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson, said the incident began as domestic disturbance at the Autumn Creek apartment complex in the 1900 block of Ardmore Avenue around noon Monday.

Officers then spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one that left the scene of the dispute. Joyner said an officer tried to stop the car, but the man in the car sped off. Police chased the car for about a mile. The car crashed into a wooded area after hitting police stop sticks in the road. Officers shot the man with bean bags and then used a TASER on him.

The suspect was taken to the hospital. Police would not comment on the man’s condition, but he did walk to the ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation. This article will updated if more information is learned.
