Komets drop game six, eliminated by Cyclones

CINCINNATI (WANE) – The Komets saw their 2013-14 season come to an end on Tuesday night in Cincinnati as Fort Wayne fell to the Cyclones 4-1 to clinch the best-of-seven ECHL Eastern Conference semifinal series four games to two.

Cincinnati got off to a hot start, scoring two goals in the first period. Josh Shalla scored his fifth goal of the series to put the Cyclones on the board, followed by Wade Megan’s seventh goal of the postseason.

Already with a 2-0 lead, the Cyclones tallied another goal in the second frame when Dan Eves beat Ben Meisner to give Cincinnati at 3-0 lead.
Dean Ouellet would score his fourth goal of the postseason in the third period to help the Komets avoid a shutout, but a Brian Nugent empty net goal with 1:15 left would set the final at 4-1.

Meisner stopped 29-of-32 shots in goal for the Komets.
Rob Madore stopped 28-of-29 for the Cyclones.
