IU’s Latimer Picked By Broncos In 2nd Round


Bloomington, Ind. – Indiana wide receiver Cody Latimer was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 56th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft on Friday evening at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He joins defensive end Jammie Kirlew (2010, seventh round) as the only Hoosiers ever taken by Denver.

Latimer, IU’s most valuable player in 2013, became the fifth Hoosier to surpass 1,000 yards in a season and his total of 1,096 ranks third all-time. His 72 receptions are fourth and his nine scores are ninth.

On Indiana’s career lists, Latimer’s 135 catches and 2,152 yards are seventh, and his 17 touchdowns are tied for fifth. The Dayton, Ohio, native recorded five 100-yard games last year, which is tied for third in a single season, and posted seven in his career, which is tied for fourth.

A two-time second team All-Big Ten selection, Latimer finished third in the conference in yards, fourth in receptions and tied for fourth in TDs in 2013.

The NFL Draft continues with rounds four through seven on Saturday.
