FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two men are facing charges after a 5-year-old says they walked in and stole her family’s flat screen TV.
According to court documents, two children were left home alone when the crime happened: a 17-year-old girl who was showering at the time, and her five-year-old sister who was out on the front porch.
The five-year-old ran upstairs to the bathroom to tell the 17-year-old that her friends Christopher Bell and Jaylin Horton were here to see her. The 17-year-old told the five-year-old to tell the men she would be down shortly. The five-year-old told Bell and Horton to hold on and then closed the front storm door behind her.
The five-year-old says Bell and Horton walked into the home without permission and took their 37 inch Quantum flat screen TV worth $300. The 17-year-old told police she jumped out of the shower and ran downstairs where she saw Bell and Horton drive off smiling.
The mother of the girls told police they did not give Bell or Horton permission to take the TV and she wanted to press charges.
Bell faces a class B felony for burglary and a class D felony for receiving stolen property. Jaylin faces a class B felony for aiding burglary and a class D felony for receiving stolen property.
