DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – An Auburn man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

Emergency personnel responded to State Road 8 near County Road 59 at 6:55 p.m.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Scott Norton, 28, Auburn, was driving east on State Road 8 when he went off the side of the road and over-corrected his small-sized pickup truck.

Investigators said Norton crossed both lanes of travel and went off the road completely. His truck then struck a tree stump which sent the vehicle airborne before landing on the driver’s side door. The vehicle then rolled once before coming to a stop.

Excessive speed was a likely cause of the crash, according to the sheriff’s department.
