Dozens attend Veterans' Memorial Ride

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) – Hundreds of riders attended the fifth annual Veterans’ Memorial Motorcycle Ride Sunday.

Participants met at Ehlerding’s River City Harley Davidson in New Haven Sunday morning.

Proceeds will benefit the Schnelker Park Veterans’ Memorial to honor military veterans and those serving now.

“As a department and government entity, we are always struggling with funds, you hear that over and over, but this is a great way to get the public behind a project and let them know what we’re trying to do and and how important it is to the community,” said Mike Clendenen with the New Haven Parks & Recreation Department.

The day included an opening ceremony, a salute to the United States military, awards and the motorcycle ride, which started at Ehlerding’s River City Harley Davidson and ended in downtown New Haven.

Awards were presented for Best of Show, Best of Paint and Best Bike.

The Disabled American Veterans Organization also provided free assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services.
