Former Colt Ehrmann Speaks At Jason Baker Camp

FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – The annual Jason Baker football camp is back in Fort Wayne for a sixth year and the lineup for the Friday night coaches clinic might be the strongest it has ever been.

In addition to members of the Ball State coaching staff, former Baltimore Colt defensive tackle Joe Ehrmann is the keynote speaker. The 10th overall pick in the 1973 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts – Ehrmann is now a minister and a highly sought after motivational speaker. His message is about changing the mindset of those involved in youth sports from simply focusing on winning to being more concerned with developing athletes as contributing members of society.

The former Syracuse All-American also reflected on his draft night of 41 years ago – saying that the current NFL Draft resembles nothing to his days as a college player.

Following Friday’s coaches clinic, the camp will continue on Saturday and Sunday with more than 250 kids signed up to participate in drills and gain some hands on experience off the field with members of the Fort Wayne Fire and Police Departments.
