Seven Carroll Athletes Sign Letters of Intent


FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) – Seven Carroll High School athletes signed national letters of intent to continue their careers at the next level on Thursday afternoon.

Coral Whaley – XC/Track-Tiffin Univ.

Carroll Senior Coral Whaley plans to continue her cross country and track career at Tiffin University.  Coral is a four year varsity athlete in cross country and track.  During her career as a Charger, Coral was a part of 4 conference, sectional, regional, and semi-state championship teams and 4 teams that finished in the top 10 at the state meet.  Individually, she was a three time All-Conference performer in cross country.  Coral has a knack for running well when it counts and will work hard to improve herself.

Marshall Gilbert – Soccer – St. Francis

Bayden Lee – Soccer – Adrian College

  • 4 yr Letter winner

  • 43 career goals (2nd in CHS History!)
  • 23 career assists (5th in CHS history)
  • 109 career points (5th in CHS history)

Josh Holmes – Track – Saint Francis (Ill.)

  • 2013 all-conference NHC team & individual
  • 2013 State Qualifier 4 x 400 relay

Sarah Pushis – Swimming –Purdue

Sarah Pushis is committing to continue her academic and swimming career at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN in the Fall 2014.

Erica Hoot – Soccer – Trine

Carroll Senior Erica Hoot plans to continue her soccer career at Trine University.  Erica is a four year soccer player and two year varsity starter.  This past year Erica was team captain and first team all-conference.  Erica is highly competitive and works as hard in practice as she does in games.  Trine will be getting an outstanding, physical soccer player with a great attitude and a joy to coach per her high school coach. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
