FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man was charged Tuesday after police found 63.4 gigabytes (GB) of child pornography on his laptop.

The investigation began in December of 2011 after a detective for the Internet Crimes Against Children Division found 25 images that were listed as files of interest in child pornography investigations by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A subpoena to Comcast Cable showed that the subscriber was Justin T. Whitmore, 32, of Fort Wayne.

Police issued a search warrant for Whitmore’s home in July of 2012 following further investigation.

Whitmore agreed to be interviewed by police without an attorney present. He told police he “undeliberately” downloaded the child porn to his computer. Whitmore said he was addicted to downloading files, not the content of them.

When police told Whitmore his laptop was going to be taken for a full examination, he became very upset and asked “So what happens next? Is my life over or what?”, according to an affidavit for probable cause.

Investigators said they found almost 2,400 still images and 48 movie files on Whitmore’s laptop.

Whitmore was charged with possession of child pornography on Tuesday. As of Tuesday afternoon, he was not listed in the Allen County Jail.
