AVILLA, Ind. (WANE) Avilla police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into a gas station late Monday night.

Around 11:50 p.m., police were called to the Lassus Handy Dandy at 245 Main Street after a cash register alarm was triggered. When they arrived, an officer noticed the glass on the front door had been smashed.

After reviewing the surveillance tapes, officers were able to locate the suspect about 115 feet away. Police arrested 19-year-old Tanner Giles of Kendallville at a home at 241 north Main Street. He’s currently being held without bond at the Noble County Jail. Giles faces a preliminary charge of burglary.

Officers with the Noble County Sheriff and Kendallville Police Departments assisted Avilla police in the arrest.

It’s unclear if anything was taken from the Lassus Handy Dandy, but no one was inside at the time. The case remains under investigation.
