Michigan man killed in motorcycle crash

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A man is dead after his motorcycle hit a sign and went into a farm field Saturday.

The Steuben Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 5:12 p.m. on CR 300 N just east of CR 1100 W.

Police said a Michael R. Lofton, 43, of Quincy, Michigan was traveling westbound on CR 300 N. Lofton’s motorcycle went of the road, hitting a sign then ended up in a farm field.

Investigators said Lofton wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Steuben County Coroner’s Office said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, but the incident is still under investigation, according to police.
