BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana State Excise Police said officers arrested 187 people on 240 charges during Indiana University’s Little 500 week.
Police said 155 people were arrested for Illegal Possession or Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage and 17 people were arrested for Furnishing Alcoholic Beverages to a Minor.
One man was arrested by a plainclothes excise officer after he yelled that he had Vicodin and Xanax for sale while walking down the street, according to officers.
Joshua Kenney, 20, of Moresville, then allegedly walked up to one of the excise officers and asked him if he would like to buy some pills.
The officer then identified themselves and asked for Kenney’s ID. When Kenney pulled out his wallet, a bag of pot fell out of his pants pocket, according to police. Officers also found nine Hydrocodone pills in the pockets of Kenney’s pants.
Kenney was arrested and preliminary charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Minor Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage.
According to excise, most of the people who were arrested on alcohol-related charges were issued a summons and release. Those people were then required to appear in a Monroe County court at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Other charges of those arrested included Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and various traffic related offenses.
Police arrested Alexander Thomas, 28, of Avon, after a traffic stop Saturday morning. Thomas had an outstanding warrant for Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Child that was issued out of Vigo County. Police said Thomas was also preliminarily charged with Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction.
