Mad Ants Win D-League Finals Opener 102-92

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (WANE) – The Mad Ants are just one win away from an NBA Development League championship as Fort Wayne topped the Santa Cruz Warriors 102-92 in game one of the best-of-three series.

The Ants are now 5-0 in the playoffs, having swept Reno and Sioux Falls.

Tony Mitchell led the Ants with 25 points, while Ron Howard – who was named NBDDL co-MVP on Thursday afternoon – tallied 23 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

Matt Bouldin added 13 points, while Trey McKinney Jones and Will Frisby both scored 12 points. Sadiel Rojas racked up a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Former Mad Ant Cam Jones led Santa Cruz with 24 points.

The Ants led 59-51 at the half.

The series now shifts to Fort Wayne. Game two is set for Saturday night at 7:30 p.m at War Memorial Coliseum. Game three, if necessary, will be Monday at 7 p.m. also at the Coliseum.
