FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Allen County has a new 911 director, according to a report by the News-Sentinel, a partner in news with WANE-TV.

The newspaper reported Thursday night William Bassett will become the new executive director.

Bassett has been the interim director since former director Tim Lee resigned in January. Bassett was approved for the position at Thursday’s meeting of the Consolidated Communications Partnership which oversees county 911 operations.

The News-Sentinel reported Bassett was approved unanimously by the group and beat out 57 candidates for the position.

Bassett has been been the 911 center’s deputy director since 2011.
