WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) Warsaw police have arrested the man suspected of robbing a convenience store early Thursday morning while offering an explanation of why he needed the money.
Daniel Ybarra, Jr., 30, was taken into custody by detectives at around noon.
At approximately 4 a.m., police were called out to the Lassus Handy Dandy at 1900 Plaza Drive where a store clerk told them a man came into the store while other customers were there and was acting strangely and milling around.
When the other customers left, the man went up the counter, took out a black handgun and said something along the lines of “I need the money or else I’m gonna shoot” and “I gotta feed my babies.”
The clerk gave the man cash from the register. The suspect was seen walking south away from the store, the clerk did not know if he had a car.
In the news release announcing Ybarra’s arrest, police did not indicate how they managed to track him down. He’s being held on a charge of armed robbery.
