FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating after two women were hurt on a moped after colliding with an SUV Wednesday night.
Police responded to West Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road at 11:04 p.m. and found two women suffering from multiple injuries. The moped was wedged under the front bumper of an SUV.
One woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the other was transported in serious condition.
Investigators believe the moped was south on Getz Road when it ran a red light and was struck by the SUV. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.
Police said both women were not wearing helmets.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
