BBB hands out 2014 Torch Awards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- The Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana honored local businesses that “do it right” Wednesday.

The Better Business Bureau’s Torch Awards ceremony recognized companies and non-profit agencies that show ethics and integrity.

Among the businesses honored: Hartman Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning, E. Harper and Son Funeral Home, Stucky Brothers, and Peg-Perego USA.

Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic was the non-profit Torch Award recipient.

Rea Magnet Chairman Jim Vann was honored as the 2014 Individual of Integrity. Vann was cited not only for his accomplishments in the business world, but also for civic contributions such as his work helping decide how to use Fort Wayne’s Legacy funds; millions of dollars that became available to the city when it sold its electric utility a few years ago.

NewsChannel 15’s Heather Herron and Mark Mellinger had the pleasure of emceeing the luncheon at the Grand Wayne Center.
