FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man is facing child molesting charges after he allegedly got a 13-year-old girl pregnant. Police said Ronte L. Latham, 21, met the victim while he was working at the Weisser Park Center.

The investigation began after police received a call from the Department of Child Services that a 13-year-old victim was pregnant. According to an affidavit for probable cause, the girl had an abortion in February of 2013.

During an interview with police, the victim said Latham, who was 19 at the time they had sex, knew how old she was. She also admitted that she knew how old Latham was.

The victim told police she and Latham met while she was visiting other kids at the Weisser Park Center.

During an interview with police, Latham admitted to having sex with the victim in December of 2012. Latham told police he did not know the girl’s age and did not ask how old she was.

Police said Latham and the victim had sex at Latham’s home in Fort Wayne.

Latham confirmed to police that he and the victim met while he was working at the Weisser Park Center, but he didn’t talk to her at that point, “as it was not allowed to be that way with the kids.”

On Monday, Latham was charged with two felony counts of child molesting.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Latham was not listed in the Allen County Jail.
