FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A local Eagle Scout is using scouts to help his community. Logan Berlew created a prayer garden at Lake Missionary Church off U.S. 20 in Angola.
He supervised a team of ten others to complete the project. Berlew hopes his project has a lasting impact on the community.
“I always knew I wanted to give back to God for giving us life, and I always wanted to do something for my church. While I was coming up through the ranks, I always knew this was what I was going to do,” said Berlew.
The church’s pastor said the project is a symbol of hope for church members, as well as all those who pass by along the busy road.
“The cross being a visible sign of Jesus for the many people that pass by here on U.S. 20, and I believe it’s a way to draw people in to his presence and to realize that he is real and he can help them in any way they need,” said Pastor Mike Cain.
The project took more than a hundred hours to complete. Only two percent of Boy Scouts ever reach the Eagle rank.
