FORT WAYNE, IN (April 19, 2014) –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by Lutheran Health Network have advanced to the finals of the NBA Development League Playoffs with a 126-118 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce tonight in Fort Wayne.
The Mad Ants came out of the gate hot, and jumped out to a 20-5 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Skyforce were outscored 36-20 by the Mad Ants in the first period. Ron Howard scored 10 points and Sadiel Rojas and Trey McKinney-Jones each scored 9 points in the frame. The Mad Ants continued to dominate in the second quarter and extended their lead to 29 points heading into halftime. Tony Mitchell led the Mad Ants in the second quarter scoring 11 points. Craig Smith scored 11 points for the Skyforce.
The Skyforce came out of the locker room and went on a 13-3 run to start the second half. Henry Walker led the Skyforce in the third quarter with eight points. The Skyforce cut the lead to 9 points early in the fourth quarter but Matt Bouldin and the Mad Ants responded and held on for the 126-118 win.
The Skyforce were led in scoring by Craig Smith with 20 points. Anthony Mason scored 19 points, Henry Walker contributed 17 points and Larry Drew and Tre Kelley each scored 16 points apiece.
For the Mad Ants, Ron Howard scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Matt Bouldin scored 24 points and dished out eight assists. Tony Mitchell scored 21 points off the bench and Sadiel Rojas scored 20 points and grabbed 12 boards.
