Szydlowksi Scores Dramatic Goal In 2-1 Komets Win

READING, Penn.  (WANE) – Shawn Szydlowski stole the puck and found the back of the net with 8.1 seconds left in the third period, earning the Komets a 2-1 win over the Reading Royals in the first game of their best-of-seven first round playoff series.

Reading opened the scoring at 12:25 in the first period when Josh Brittain beat Ben Meisner. Brittain played the majority of last season with the Komets, but gave the Royals a 1-0 lead after one.

In the second period Mike Embach continued his solid play, netting a short handed goal at 16:47 to knot the game at 1-1.

Ben Meisner stopped 20-of-21 shots in goal to earn the win. Reading’s Brandon Anderson stopped 37-of-39.

Game two will be Saturday in Reading at 7:05 p.m.
