Police respond to an accident that left one person critically hurt in Kosciusko County.

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE)- Police are investigating a crash that hurt two men Tuesday evening, including one who is critical condition.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on County Road 150 West, just south of County Road 400 North. The crash happened at approximately 5:04 p.m.

Officers pulled up and found a yellow 2011 Chevrolet Camaro that had been severely damaged after apparently striking a wooden fence, several posts and a tree.

The driver, Michael S. Thomas, 29, of Warsaw, was found pinned inside the wreckage suffering from a severe head injury.  He was extricated and immediately airlifted from the scene and flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne in critical condition.

A passenger inside the vehicle, Joseph G. Haupert, 20, of Claypool, was removed and transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne in serious condition.

Police said Thomas’s Camaro had been northbound on County Road 150 West when it went off the east side of the road and struck a fence and several wooden posts before eventually running into a tree.

Witnesses told officers at the scene that it looked like the Camaro was going at a high rate of speed prior to losing control.
