Police: Stolen SUV found in retention pond

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police said a stolen SUV was found in a retention pond in a Fort Wayne neighborhood Sunday morning.

A neighbor saw the top of the SUV in the pond, located behind several homes in the 7300-block of Lucerne Crossing, and called police around 7:30 a.m.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from Mallory Shelton, who lives in the Hunter’s Point subdivision, off of Wheelock Road, sometime overnight. The retention pond is in the Waterford subdivision, which is connected to Shelton’s neighborhood.

A NewsChannel 15 photographer at the scene said dive teams searched the pond Sunday morning. Police said divers did not find anyone in the pond and no injuries were reported.
