WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE)  – Indiana Conservation Officers said a man was injured in a crash after he was thrown over the handlebars of an off-road vehicle and then ran over by it.

According to officials, Drake A. Crosby, 25, of Fort Wayne, was driving a Honda TRX450R in a field in the 3900 block of CR 35 in DeKalb County Saturday night.

Crosby hit a bump in the field and was thrown over the handlebars. The vehicle then ran him over, according to the DNR.

He was taken to Dekalb Memorial Hospital and then to Parkview Regional Medical Center. The DNR said Crosby was treated for facial lacerations and released.

Conservation officers said Crosby was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Conservation officers want to remind everyone to drive at a safe speed and always wear proper safety equipment and a helmet when driving ORVs.
