Gang unit arrests man for 2012 shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – On Thursday night, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang Unit arrested a man who they believe was responsible for a 2012 shooting that left a man in critical condition.

According to FWPD spokesman Michael Joyner, Quinn D. James, of Fort Wayne, had an outstanding warrant for felony charges stemming from a shooting on July 14, 2012.

Police said James shot Antonio L. Hamlet in the area of Standish Drive and Fairfax Avenue. Hamlet was critically injured in the shooting.

James was arrested at a home located at 4610 Gaywood Drive. Inside the home, police found two loaded rifles, a shotgun, pot, cocaine, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia.

As of Friday, James is facing an attempted murder charge and an aggravated battery charge. Joyner said further charges against James are pending.

According to court documents, James’ initial hearing will be on Monday.
