FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – On Tuesday night The Florida Times-Union confirmed WANE’s report from late Monday, stating that Jacksonville University has hired Tony Jasick as the school’s new head men’s basketball coach.
The story states Jasick is likely to be given a five-year contract. It also states Jacksonville will announce the hire tomorrow morning with a press conference likely set for Thursday.
Jasick – who was honored with the Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year award last Friday – takes over for Cliff Warren who was fired after nine seasons with the Dolphins.
According to reports, Jasick first met with Jacksonville officials on Saturday in Dallas at the Final Four, before a second round of interviews took place on the school’s campus on Monday. IPFW is declining comment until the announcement is made official.
Since taking over for former head coach Dane Fife in 2011, Jasick has compiled a 52-47 record at IPFW. The University awarded him a contract extension prior to the start of last season that would have kept him in Fort Wayne through the 2017-18 season.
