FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police are investigating a stabbing that left a man in serious condition on Sunday night.

Police were called to the Midwest America Federal Credit Union on Swinney Avenue around 9 p.m. Police found the stabbing victim in the parking lot of the Credit Union, according to police reports.

Two witnesses told police they were walking down the street with the victim when a white man got out of a blue Impala and confronted the victim, according to police reports. While the two were fighting, one witness said he tried to prevent a passenger from getting out the car and getting involved. He tried to keep the passenger door closed until the passenger pointed a handgun at him.

The other witness told police he had stepped back to allow the two men to fight one-on-one. He said they threw a few minor blows and the victim suddenly yelled “he stabbed me!”

The suspect ran back to the car and headed west on Swinney Avenue. A witness said he used his sweater to apply pressure to the victim’s stab wounds.

The witnesses told police they went to high school with the suspect and would be able to identify him.
