FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Three Rivers Festival (TRF) organizers announced a new lineup to their concert schedule on Friday.
The Under The Sun tour includes Blues Traveler, Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker and Smash Mouth, and it will be stopping in Fort Wayne on Saturday, July 12.
“This is an incredible lineup to bring to the Three Rivers Festival,” TRF Board President Tim Metel said the press release on the concert. “Each of these bands could be a headliner but why not bring them all in for a night of non-stop hits? We are bringing this party to Fort Wayne and are doing it with affordable tickets, for your best summer ever, under the sun!”
Organizers said this year, more sponsorship allowed them to hire bigger acts than in years past.
“We weren’t going to bring anybody in that we couldn’t pay for, so when I took over in 2010, we kind of froze that budget because we didn’t want to jeopardize the festival just for one night of music,” TRF Executive Director, Jack Hammer said.
TRF concerts are open to all ages. Tickets will go on sale on April 11. They will be $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased by phone at (260) 426-5556, at the TRF Office, the Embassy Box Office, or online at Ticketmaster.com and ThreeRiversFestival.org.
Cheap Trick will play the festival on Friday, July 11. Tickets for that concert went on sale on March 28.
TRF organizers said there are still many acts to be announced including one of the community’s most requested band which will be announced at the end of the month. In addition to the new concert series, there will also be more rides, a NASA display, more artists, a wine vineyard and members of the Colts will even make a special appearance at this year’s festival.
The festival will run July 11-19.
Under The Sun at the Three Rivers Festival is sponsored by Hanning & Bean Enterprises, Inc., welcomed by Ash Brokerage and presented by the New 95.1 Best FM, with special thanks to Meijer and Vera Bradley.
