ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – The Anderson Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that occurred late Thursday night.

Police said the driver of a 2011 Chevy Cruz was speeding the wrong way on Main Street prior to crashing into a rail road crossing arm.

Witnesses told police they saw the driver doing doughnuts in the 2100 block of Main Street before the crash. Police believe the driver later lost control of the car, crashing into the rail road crossing beam. The impact of the collision caused the driver to be ejected from the car.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released, but police have identified him as a 22-year-old Kentucky man.

Investigators are still waiting on toxicology reports, but believe drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in this crash. The incident remains under investigation.
