FORT WAYNE, IN (April 4, 2014) –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by Lutheran Health Network defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders in a double overtime victory tonight in Fort Wayne. Sadiel Rojas scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the victors in their final regular season game.
The Mad Ants came out of the gate hot, outscoring the D-Fenders 30-12 in the first quarter. Sadiel Rojas and Ron Howard scored 10 and 8 points, respectively, in the quarter. The Ants continued to dominate throughout the second quarter went into halftime with a score of 71-43. Rojas and Ohlbrecht each had 10 points in the second quarter. James Southerland scored eight points for Los Angeles in the quarter. The D-Fenders came out of halftime on fire and outscored the Ants 27-12. Josiah Turner led L.A. with nine points during the period. The D-Fenders owned the fourth quarter as well, outscoring the Ants by 17 points to tie the game 110 apiece and forcing overtime.
Ron Howard scored six points in overtime for the Mad Ants but the combination of C.J. Williams and Terrence Williams was enough to force a second overtime as the score was tied at 120-all when the buzzer sounded. Matt Bouldin scored four points in the second overtime period for the Mad Ants as they emerged victorious, 129-128.
The D-Fenders were led in scoring by James Southerland with 28 points. Terrence Williams and Shawne Williams each scored 16 points.
For the Mad Ants, Ron Howard scored 23 points, Time Ohlbrecht scored 21 points, Matt Bouldin netted 13 points and Tony Mitchell scored 11 points before being sidelined with a hamstring injury.
